Hydrated Lime

Calcium Hydroxide Ca(OH)2, is an inorganic compound commonly known as Slaked lime or caustic lime. It is a colorless crystal or white in appearance.

Preparation

Calcium hydroxide is produced commercially by treating quick lime with water

CaO + H2O Ca(OH)2

Onelitre of water combines with approximately 3.1 kilograms (6.8 lb) of quicklime to give calcium hydroxide plus 3.54 MJ of energy.

Uses

hydrated lime has a wide range of uses including in Fertilizer Industries, Alkalis, STP,WTP,& Food Processing Units etc..
