Description

Rapid development together with the intensification of farming practices since last two decades has created several problems in the shrimp industry. They are lethargic and flaccid, with a gap between the muscle and shell. Loose Shell Syndrome (LSS) is one of the important chronic diseases. LSS-affected shrimp exhibit progressive mortality and reduced survival rates and production. The affected shrimp has a soft carapace with a gap between the muscle tissue and exoskeleton, shrunkenhepatopancreas.

Supplementation of good nutrition in animal culture system is an essential to control loose shell syndrome disease and for economical production of high-quality meat products. Vitamins involve in wide verities ofbiochemicalfunctions; include hormones, antioxidants, coenzymes and cell signalingand regulation of cell and tissue growth and differentiation. Macro and micro elements participates in multi-biological processes such as cellular metabolism, formation of skeletal structures, maintenance of colloidal systems, regulation of acid-base equilibrium, immunity enhancer, stress releaser, disease resistance and other physiological functions. The bioactive compounds of herbs enhance immune system, animal growth and control animal LSS disease.
